Hi, How Can I Help You?

I have something to admit. I’ve been a little selfish lately. I haven’t been living as closely to my ideals as I’d like to be. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can do better and something occurred to me just now.

All of the most successful people I know have built their life around one simple principle. They make other people’s lives better. They make sure that people are having a good time and feel good about themselves. While I was aware of this idea for sometime for whatever reason it never really resonated with me until now.

Not to give you a sob story or anything but 2018 was pretty trying. I was just trying to think about how “I” can get through it and how can “I” improve as a person and save “my” business. I was to focused on myself. And maybe sometimes we need that, I don’t know.

But what if instead of thinking about myself so much (because that’s worked brilliantly for the last 35 years, clearly) I put other people first for a change. Instead of worrying about how my tea business is going to it’s first thousand sales this year, I focus on how to make 1000 people’s lives better with tea. Maybe I should be blogging not simply for my own reasons but I should focus on thinking how I can make this blog (and my other two of course) better for you, the reader.

One of my favourite comedians, Dan Harmon, creator of Community and a little known show called Rick and Morty, once said that wanting to be the guy that made other people laugh was the highest form of ego.

I recently saw a meme on Facebook (I can’t find it now) where someone said that they don’t want to become rich because they want to buy expensive things. They said that they want to become rich so that they can do things for other people like leave $1000. They wanted to become rich, not to improve their own life but the lives of the people around them.

This I believe is a wonderful ideal, but here’s the thing. You don’t have to become rich to improve peoples lives. While you may not be able to change millions of lives, I think that it is well within your reach to do little things right now to make sure other people feel better.

So the question I have to ask now is “How can I help you?”

Thoughts on Meditation from a Beginner

I’m a very scientific minded person so I was very interested in seeing the benefits and effects of meditation. I started with 5 minutes a day and after a few days I decided to push myself and go for 30+ minute sessions. I also tried different sitting positions.

Priorities

Setting your priorities is one of the most important skills you can learn. Without it, you run a huge risk of wasting your most important resources(time and effort). No matter what it is you want to accomplish, your efforts will be better served by managing your priorities better. If you want to move forward in life and achieve your goals you need to set your priorities straight. Continue reading “Priorities”

I’m Putting Together A Team

I recently discovered that the biggest obstacle I have to overcome in order to achieve my goals is myself. I am my own worst enemy. So far I’ve been trying to take myself one on one. But that was not working out so well. For a long time I thought that I could lose the weight on my own and I have to admit that for me it’s just not a tenable solution.

The Most Important Tool of Weight Loss.

In my humble opinion, the most important thing you can do to lose weight is to consistently measure your results. I like to jump on the scale every morning, to start my day. Some other people prefer to step on it once a week.
But wait, there’s more!

Loving the Bike

As you may know I have recently taken up cycling. I love it. It’s a lot fun and I don’t think I will be giving it up any time soon. It is low impact and great for your legs. You can power up and cycle as fast as you can or coast along at a leisurely pace, or both! However at my fitness level I can assure you that my pace is leisurely no matter how hard I pedal.
