After a disappointing October, I’m back on track. I put on a lot of weight during Oct, but November has been pretty good. 290lbs in Oct. My heaviest weight to date. Now I’m 278 in Nov. I am disappointed but determined.Continue reading “Down 12lbs.”
The other day I got thinking about the amount of time it takes become an expert in something. Conventional wisdom says that it takes 10000 hours of deliberate practice. You can’t just go through the motions and expect to get better at something you want to learn. You have to work on your weaknesses. Continue reading “Scheduling my time from now on.”
No such thing as luck or natural talent. All you have to do is put in the work. If you are a little further behind your goals than you want to be then just put in a little more work. You have to do it for you because no one who hasn’t been where you are will know the work you’ve put in. They’ll see the results but they will not see all the work. Do it because it’s part of who you are today and who you want to be tomorrow. Continue reading “Make Your Own Luck”
Today I decided to go back to the gym. I was a little nervous because I took some time off for the holidays. I wasn’t going to go but I decided not to let fear get the best of me. I could’ve just stayed home and plopped down on the couch, but that’s not going to get me back into shape. Continue reading “Use Your Imagination”
I’ve never been one to make NY resolutions as I found it kind of pointless. I was already doing what I wanted to be doing and didn’t need the New Year to remind myself to set goals and achieve them. Having worked at a gym it was a wonder to see hordes of people flood the gym only to vacate the gym by June.
The problem I see with people(including myself) setting goals is that they say they are going do something and then they don’t preserve. I’m horrible at that. It makes people think that you are all talk and no action. “But we can try!” I hear you saying to you device. And to that I’m going to tell you what someone told me.
My doc put a piece of paper in front of me and asked me to try and pick it up. So I picked it up. He then asked me “Did you try to pick it up or did you just pick it up?” I said I picked it up. My point is that Yoda was right when gave Luke that sage advice.
What I am doing this year is that I’m writing down my goals for the year and I’m not going to tell anyone about them until I’m done them. That way you avoid doubters and won’t and will feel more satisfied when you get it done.
Have a Happy New Year!
Setting your priorities is one of the most important skills you can learn. Without it, you run a huge risk of wasting your most important resources(time and effort). No matter what it is you want to accomplish, your efforts will be better served by managing your priorities better. If you want to move forward in life and achieve your goals you need to set your priorities straight. Continue reading “Priorities”
I recently discovered that the biggest obstacle I have to overcome in order to achieve my goals is myself. I am my own worst enemy. So far I’ve been trying to take myself one on one. But that was not working out so well. For a long time I thought that I could lose the weight on my own and I have to admit that for me it’s just not a tenable solution.
