Recently I went on vacation and basically stopped doing everything that was making me healthy. I was using the excuse, “oh it’s okay, I’m on vacation.” Well the vacation has caught up with me. It’s time to get back on track or the wagon. I’m not great with metaphors.
Being back on sugar has proved to be worse for me than I anticipated. It put the breaks on my weight loss, messed with my energy levels and effected my mood overall. I weighed myself when I got home and the scale told me that I had not lost a single pound over the six weeks that I was away. Luckily I had not gained weight either so I guess there is a silver lining. I was and still am crashing a lot. Sugar does that to you. It spikes your insulin levels and makes you tired and hungry later. It also had a very noticeable effect on my mood as was generally in a bad mood for large parts of my vacation.
It’s been a few weeks since I got back and I have to say that I am having a lot of trouble getting back on track. I also didn’t exercise much on my trip. I walked around a little but not much and I did absolutely no strength training. A few days I tried bench what I was benching before I left and it was so hard. I only got half way through the first set and the second set as well. Keep in mind that when I left I was doing five sets of five reps.
Today I am going to force myself to get on the treadmill and get back on the wagon on the track. If there is one thing I have learned is that your health does not take a vacation even if you do. If you have any tips for getting back on track please leave them in the comment section!
