Today I decided to start the Couch to 5K challenge. The program allows you to progressively go from couch potato to 5K runner in two months. I tried to program before but I did not stick to it and so I can’t really tell you how well it works. However, this time I will hold myself accountable by blogging about it everyday. If I miss a day, feel free to scold me about it in the comments section.
I decided to do this challenge because I wanted to see if my weight was down enough to start doing harder impact exercise and I also thought it was only a month long. It’s actually two months long. I also believe it is important to shake things up once in a while to keep things interesting. Shaking things up also helps to keep your body from getting used to your workout.
The first run today was very challenging. The C25K app had me warm up for five minutes before switching between intervals of running and walking. This part, the hard part, goes on for twenty minutes. You finish the workout with a 5 minute cool-down. I was drenched in sweat after the workout. It felt great.
If you have tried this program before or run on a regular basis, I would like to read about it in the comments section. Thanks for reading!
