Breaking Boredom

As winter is upon us, I find myself less inclined to exercise outside. Instead opting to hop on the old treadmill and stay warm indoors. This presents a bit of a problem for me because I am not a huge fan of treadmills. I find them less effective than doing the same exercise outside in nature. I also get bored out of my skull after about 10 or 15 minutes on them, which is the reason I’m making this post. Don’t worry though, I have figured out a few key strategies for breaking up the boredom.

During the summer I like to do 1-2 hour walks. However when I stepped on the treadmill this fall I immediately realized that there is no way I could stare at the wall for two hours and keep my sanity. So I now only do 30 minutes at a time on the treadmill. But I’ll often do it twice a day. I’ll do my treadmill walking at max incline to get more bang for my buck.

My next trick to breaking boredom is switch exercises at regular intervals. Every 5 minutes on the treadmill I hit the stop button and do some weight lifting or body weight exercises. That way I am getting more of a full body workout and it saves me a lot of time.

Thanks for reading and let me know in the comments section what you do to break the boredom!
